MANCHESTER SHIP CANAL SWIM RAISES OVER £150,000 FOR CHARITY
Everton and England
footballer congratulated James Whittaker, development director of
Peel Holdings on completion of ‘The Ocean Gateway Challenge’,
a world first 36-mile charity swim along the entire length of The
Manchester Ship Canal.

The Challenge

corridor and Liverpool Estuary areas, but more importantly raised
over £150,000 for Peel’s chosen charity for 2008, The
New Children’s Hospital Appeal.
James Whittaker,
said: “I would just like to thank the whole team for their combined
efforts in the Ocean Gateway Challenge success. The 36 mile swim was
tough, but I am elated to have completed The Challenge and raised
money for The New Children’s Hospital Appeal.”
New Children’s
Hospital Appeal patron, Phillip Neville, added: “On behalf of
the Appeal I would like to thank James, all The Ocean Gateway Challenge
Team and all our sponsors for a super human effort and an amazing
result in raising over £150,000.”
